Looking At Things Through A New Lens — LITERALLY

Looking At Things Through A New Lens — LITERALLY

I said in my previous posts that I'm gonna get a DSLR right? When I say that I'm gonna get something, YOU BET YOUR ASS I WILL! And I'm so excited to share for this week's post about what I've been up to.

This is my eldest daughter, Royce. She just graduated from Grade School. I bought her a second-hand Nikon D5100 so that she'll be one of the few students who own a DSLR in her photography club.

Photography is our new hobby, even if I often see some seasoned professionals bashing newbies in forums. Good thing that I love challenges. As beginners, we will take our precious time to master photography (while my daughter is still young).

So what inspired me to start photography?

I had been hiring/asking people to take stunning pictures for me. All of a sudden, I decided I really needed to start doing it myself because I wanna be in charge of the overall art direction thing #controlfreakmuch. Compared to other photography newbies, I thought that I already have an advantage because I understand most of the photography terms (coz of the render settings in Vray such as ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed, etc), plus, I AM VERY GOOD IN PHOTOSHOP.

Here are some samples of my work.

My first subjects are my very own daughters. I wanna practice on focusing on my subject manually. I made lighting adjustments on the .NEF files of these photos using CameraRaw and post processing using Photoshop.

What do you think of my photos?

As a single-mom who spends every ounce of energy she has to learn a new skill, I'd love to read your honest opinions/criticisms. I will be taking photos of inanimate objects as well. I'm currently watching YouTube videos on how to use a Nikon D5100 and how to shoot people, objects and other stuff. I'll post more photos soon!
